My favorite pre-made world in The Sims 3 is Bridgeport. Although, The Sims 3 was criticized for its lagging and glitches I think that the concept of an open world changed the game for the better. Lets say you want to put a farm in the middle of a busy bustling city, in The Sims 3 you could do that. One part of the island consists of penthouses, nightclubs, and bars, while the other island is a secluded area full of mansions for the rich and famous. The way that “worlds” in The Sims 3 were designed made it easy to customize and alter the town to however you likeīridgeport is made up of two islands that are connected by a glamorous bridge. (A feature that has still not been added in The Sims 4) You could see your sims go to work or school, as well as visit other sims at their house. Sims could ride their bike, go for a jog, even learn drive in various assortments of cars. Having open words in The Sims 3 brought a whole new dimension to gameplay. But if you want to leave to go to say, another city, there is a loading screen that takes you there. The Sims 4 kind of imitates the concept of an open world by having each neighborhood be on one whole lot have many different parks and stores and houses on that lot.

It’s true that in The Sims 1, The Sims 2, and even in The Sims 4, you can leave your lot and explore but not without a loading screen. The Sims 3 was the first of all Sims games to allow the sims to leave their lot and explore the world around them. One thing that I really made The Sims 3 unique and set it apart from other versions of the game was the ability to play in open worlds.
